Knowing my luck, it'll be Stormcloaks or Thalmor.

[He downs the rest of his tea and schnapps mixture.]

Ohhh-- that don't sound nice. Bad names. Who're they?

The Stormcloaks want to liberate their homeland from the Empire, but they also hate anybody who isn't a Nord and their leader has a very "Nords First" philosophy. Makes me worry how my kind will be treated if their leader does become king of Skyrim.

The Thalmor are Altmer fascists. Thanks to a treaty, they're allowed to run around the Empire with diplomatic immunity, rounding up anybody they want for torture. They believe they're superior to everybody else, and it's pretty obvious that they want to rule all of Tamriel.

That's... a lot of racism.

[Finn refills his cup with schnapps, not even bothering to mix it with tea this time.

This is why Finn likes the Dark Brotherhood. They respect all races, so long as you remain loyal to the family.]

If anyone from either group ends up here, I will personally walk right up to them and give them a point-blank dragon shout.

[he snorts.]

Gimme a call and I'll record it and set it to funny music for ya. [he shakes his head. ah. if only.] What's a dragon shout?

I would pay you do to that, if I wasn't sure I'd be arrested for it.

Dragons can warp reality to some effect by shouting in the dragon language. As dragonborn, I can do that too.

Wish I could warp reality by shoutin'...

[he grunts, downing his cup. another one of just schnapps.]

What can you do, then?

I can breathe fire and ice, slow time, clear the weather, push people, stuff like that.

[h2no]

Clear weather...

[he's thinking of the cloud nine ability.]

L-like everywhere or in a certain area?

[h2no]

By shouting.

[fireandhoney]

It only affects a two mile radius around me. It's mostly useful for when you want to run through someplace with bad weather, or want to see the stars on a cloudy night.

[h2no]

That's cool. I think?

[a pause. he goes quiet for a moment, thinking it over while he pours some tea for himself. just like cloud nine, right?]


...Ah, no. Changed my mind. It's messed up.

I can also do the opposite, and summon a powerful lightning storm. I don't use that one very often.

[h2no]

That's even worse!!!

[he puts the tea cup down gently, before putting his hands on his face and leaning back with a groan.]

That's too much power!!

[fireandhoney]

You have no idea.

No idea why Akatosh would give me this power.

Hm.

[he shrugs, then takes the tea again.]

Well, there's a reason for everythin', right? You seem like a good person to have that kinda power, anyway. I mean, unless you're planning to take over the world.

[sip.]

Don't do that.

I suppose.

[Between that and the Night Mother giving him the mother of all promotions within the Dark Brotherhood, some divine force clearly likes seeing stuff fall into his lap.]

I mean, I could, yeah. Dragons nearly conquered my world once. Don't worry, I don't intent to do that. I'd get bored being the ruler of everything.

...There are worse reasons to not want to take over the world, I guess.

[he shakes his head.]

What's it like for you, back home? Are you the only one who can do that?

[fireandhoney]

Well, technically anybody can learn to wield the power of the Thu'um. It's just that I can learn it much quicker since the dragon language comes naturally to me.

[h2no]

Do you think people here could learn it?

[a pause.]

I'm not about to ask, or anythin'. It's just be interesting if it was specific to your world.

[fireandhoney]

It's possible, I guess. It's just that it can take years for a non-dragonborn to learn to use the Thu'um. You have to learn the dragon language inside and out, so it's not just a matter of knowing the words and their direct translations.

That makes sense.

[he feels bad asking so many questions, but... it's an interesting revelation to find out that this guy can literally shout the weather apart?]

Do you know it? Fluently, I mean. I guess you'd have to, huh?

Semi-fluently. I have a pretty extensive vocabulary and grammar by now, and I guess if I were to meet a dragon again we could have a conversation. But I'm still not as fluent as an actual dragon.
